The Effect

A spectator signs a borrowed coin before it is apparently slammed straight through the bottom of a sealed soda can.

Moments later, the can is opened and the signed coin is heard rattling inside before being poured back out.

This is one of the strongest impromptu-style coin tricks you can perform.

Before You Begin

You'll need a full can of carbonated soda, a marker pen and a coin that will just fit through the can opening once the ring pull has been opened.

Practise the handling with an empty can first so you become comfortable with the secret movements before performing with a full drink.

Keep it hidden beneath your thumb directly over the unopened drinking hole.

Step 11

Reveal the Signed Coin

Pour the drink out until the signed coin appears at the opening.

The audience sees their own marked coin emerge from inside the sealed can.

Performance Tips

Keep the base of the can angled away from spectators throughout the early part of the routine.

Don't rush after the apparent penetration. The pause helps sell the idea that the coin is already inside.

The fizz created when opening the can provides excellent natural misdirection for the secret load.

This trick works particularly well in bars, parties and other casual settings where drink cans are naturally available.
