The Effect
A coin is shown openly and rubbed against your elbow.
After apparently dropping it and trying again, the coin seems to melt completely into your arm.
Both hands are then shown empty, leaving the audience with no clue where the coin has gone.

Before You Begin
Use a coin that is large enough to handle comfortably but small enough to conceal naturally in your fingers.
Practise the false transfer before performing the complete routine. The receiving hand must look as though it genuinely contains the coin.
Perform over carpet or another soft surface while learning, in case the coin is accidentally dropped.
Rub the Coin Against Your Elbow
Hold the coin at your fingertips and begin rubbing it gently against your elbow.
Act as though you are trying to push the coin through your arm.
Let the coin apparently slip and fall after the first attempt. This gives you a natural reason to pick it up and begin again.
Perform the False Transfer
Pick up the coin and apparently place it into your opposite hand.
Secretly retain the coin in the original hand while the receiving hand closes as though it now holds the coin.
Keep your eyes focused on the receiving hand. The audience will usually follow your gaze.
Dispose of the Hidden Coin
Continue rubbing the closed receiving hand against your elbow while the coin remains hidden in your other hand.
At a natural moment, discreetly release the hidden coin behind you or retain it until you can place it into a pocket.
Only use the over-the-shoulder method when there is a soft, quiet surface and nobody is standing behind you.
Reveal the Vanish
Slowly open the hand that supposedly contains the coin.
Show that it is completely empty, then display the other hand naturally as well.
Pause before speaking so the audience has time to register the disappearance.

Keep talking and make eye contact during the false transfer. The audience naturally pays attention to your face and the hand they believe contains the coin.
Performance Tips
Make the first failed attempt believable. It gives the routine a casual, unplanned feeling.
Keep both hands relaxed after the false transfer. Tension in the hand concealing the coin may attract suspicion.
Close the receiving hand only after the imaginary coin has apparently arrived.
Use a steady rhythm and avoid rushing the final reveal.
Common Mistakes
Do not look at the hand secretly retaining the coin.
Avoid closing the receiving hand before the apparent transfer is complete.
Do not throw the coin onto a hard floor where the sound will expose the method.
Keep the false transfer close to the body and within a natural viewing angle.
Practice Exercise
Practise genuinely transferring the coin from one hand to the other several times.
Then perform the false transfer and compare both movements in a mirror. They should look identical.
