Jumping Match Trick
One match rests on your open palm while another is held in the opposite hand. When the match heads meet, the match on your palm suddenly leaps into the air.
Position the First Match
Rest one wooden match across your open left palm.
Let the match head extend slightly beyond the side of the hand.
Hold the Second Match
Grip the second match between the thumb and first finger.
Rub the head lightly on your sleeve while joking that you are charging it with static electricity.
Create the Jump
Bring the two match heads together.
Secretly snap the end of the held match with the fingernail of the middle or ring finger.
The vibration transfers to the match on the palm and sends it upward.

Magnetic Matchbox Trick
A box of loose matches is turned upside down, yet the matches remain suspended inside. A moment later they suddenly fall.
Preparation
Shorten one match so it fits tightly across the width of the inner tray.
Press it across the other matches at roughly the halfway point.
The crosswise match secretly traps the loose matches in place.
Prepare the Matchbox
Insert the shortened match tightly across the tray.
Check that the box can still open and close normally.
Show the Matches
Open the drawer about one quarter of the way.
Shake it gently so the matches appear completely loose.
Turn the Box Upside Down
Close the box, turn it over and open the drawer again.
The hidden crosswise match prevents the others from falling.
Release the Matches
Give the box a gentle squeeze at the sides.
The hidden support shifts and the matches fall out.
Melting Matchstick Trick
Two solid matchsticks are rubbed together and one appears to pass directly through the other.
This effect depends heavily on the viewing angle. Practise in front of a mirror before performing.
Double-Strike Match Trick
A match is struck and lit, extinguished, then apparently struck and lit a second time.

Impossible Matchstick Challenge
Three matches form a pyramid over a coin. The challenge is to remove the coin without touching the matches or collapsing the structure.
Build the Pyramid
Arrange three matches in a stable pyramid on top of a matchbox.
Place the coin beneath one of the lower matches.
Light the Matches Carefully
Over a fire-resistant surface, light the match heads carefully.
Extinguish them before the flame reaches the matchbox.
Remove the Coin
As the wood heats and cools, one match may bend upward.
Once everything is fully extinguished and cool, remove the coin.
