⚠️ Present It Honestly

This is a body-mechanics demonstration, not real hypnosis. Keep the presentation playful and never pressure anyone to take part.

The Effect

A spectator clasps their hands together and raises both index fingers.

You tell them to imagine that the fingertips are powerful magnets.

Even when they try to keep the fingers apart, the fingers slowly move together until they touch.

Step 1

Clasp the Hands

Ask the spectator to weave their fingers together and clasp their hands firmly.

Their palms should be close together and their grip comfortable.

Step 2

Raise the Index Fingers

Ask them to point both index fingers upward while keeping the other fingers interlocked.

The fingertips should begin about an inch apart.

Step 3

Introduce the Magnetic Idea

Slowly move your hands above theirs without touching.

Say that the fingertips are becoming magnetic and are beginning to attract one another.

Ask the spectator to concentrate on the space between the fingers.

Fingertips are drawn together so that they touch.
Step 4

Let the Fingers Move

Encourage them to keep watching while saying that the fingers will move closer even if they try to resist.

The index fingers should slowly drift together and touch.

Why It Works

When the hands are clasped and the index fingers are held apart, the muscles and tendons naturally encourage the fingers to relax inward.

Holding the fingers apart requires continuous effort.

As the spectator focuses on your suggestion and relaxes slightly, the fingers gradually move together.

Suggested Presentation

“Imagine there is a powerful magnet in each fingertip. The magnets are getting stronger. You may try to hold them apart, but the attraction keeps increasing.”

Speak slowly and allow pauses between each line.

Performance Tips

Ask the spectator to keep their eyes on the gap between the fingers.

Use a calm voice and avoid rushing.

Move your own hands slowly above theirs to create a visual focus.

Let the effect happen naturally rather than forcing a dramatic finish.

🎩 Magic Tip

The suggestion works best when the spectator is curious and relaxed. Treat it as a fun experiment rather than a challenge.

Common Mistakes

Do not let the spectator hold the index fingers too far apart.

Make sure the remaining fingers stay firmly interlocked.

Avoid touching or pushing the spectator’s hands.

Do not claim that the effect proves real hypnosis or supernatural power.

Practice Plan

Try the hand position yourself so you understand the natural movement.

Rehearse the script until it sounds calm and spontaneous.

Perform first for a trusted friend and adjust the starting distance between the fingers if necessary.
