The Effect

A rubber band is placed around the first and second fingers of one hand.

The fingers are closed into a fist.

When the hand opens, the rubber band instantly jumps to the third and fourth fingers.

The trick can then be repeated in reverse.

Step 1

Display the Rubber Band

Place the rubber band around the first and second fingers.

Turn the palm upward and pull the band outward with the other hand.

This proves that the band is genuinely around only those two fingers.

All four fingers secretly entering the stretched rubber band loop
Step 2

Load All Four Fingers

While the band is stretched outward, curl all four fingers inward.

Secretly place all four fingertips inside the loop.

Let the band snap back across all four curled fingers.

Step 3

Turn the Hand Over

Rotate the hand palm-down while keeping the fingers curled.

From the audience’s viewpoint, the band still appears to be around the original two fingers.

Step 4

Open the Hand

Straighten all four fingers at the same time.

The tension causes the rubber band to jump onto the third and fourth fingers.

Open the hand cleanly and let the visual moment register.

How the Secret Move Is Hidden

The secret loading action happens while the rubber band is being stretched and the hand is turning over.

Those two natural movements cover the moment when all four fingers enter the loop.

The audience remembers seeing the band around only two fingers, so the jump appears impossible.

Repeating the Trick

After the band jumps, pull it outward again.

Secretly place all four fingers into the loop just as before.

Turn the hand over and open the fingers to make the band jump back.

Performance Tips

Use a medium-sized rubber band that stretches comfortably.

Keep the loading action hidden by timing it with the hand turn.

Do not stare at the fingers during the secret move.

Open all four fingers together for a clean visual jump.

🎩 Magic Tip

Pull the rubber band slightly to the side during the setup. This gives your fingers more room to enter the loop smoothly.

Common Mistakes

Do not expose the fingertips entering the loop.

Avoid using a rubber band that is too tight or brittle.

Keep the hand turn smooth rather than sudden.

Do not open the fingers one at a time.

Practise the reverse jump separately before performing both directions.

Practice Plan

First practise loading all four fingers without worrying about speed.

Add the palm-up display and hand turn once the loading feels natural.

Rehearse in front of a mirror to check the exposed side angles.

Finally, practise the full jump forward and backward as one short routine.
