Two Tricks in One Tutorial

Choose Your Candy Trick

Both effects use simple preparation, timing and audience management rather than difficult sleight of hand.

Candy Trick 1

Tic Tac Coin Morph

A coin is tapped against the clear box and appears to pass straight through the plastic.

Step 1

Gather the Props

Use a Tic Tac box and two identical coins. One coin stays visible while the duplicate is secretly prepared inside the box.

Step 2

Prepare the Box

Empty the candies, remove the white plastic lid section and place one duplicate coin against an inside edge of the box.

Step 3

Secure the Secret Coin

Replace the plastic lid so it jams the hidden coin in position. It should remain there while the box is held vertically.

Step 4

Hide It Behind the Label

Position the coin behind one of the labels and hold the box by its thin lengthwise edges. Check the spectator's viewing angle before performing.

Step 5

Make the Coin Appear Inside

Tap the visible coin against the box twice. On the third tap, squeeze the long edges at the exact instant the coin touches the box. The box flexes and the concealed coin drops into view.

Candy Trick 2

Torn & Restored Candy Packet

Apparently tear open a candy packet, pour out a few sweets, then magically reseal the torn corner.

Step 1

Prepare Two Matching Packets

Use two identical candy packets and scissors. One packet remains intact; the other supplies a duplicate torn corner.

Step 2

Create the Duplicate Corner

Cut a small triangle from the top corner of the spare packet and retain it for the performance.

Step 3

Set Up Your Hands

Hold the intact packet in your left hand. Finger-palm a few loose candies and secretly hold the duplicate corner ready for the false tear.

Step 4

Apparently Tear the Packet

Bring your right hand across as though opening the packet. Fold back the intact corner with the left thumb while quickly pulling the right hand away with the duplicate piece.

Step 5

Show the Packet as Open

Keep the real corner folded back. The duplicate piece in the other hand makes it look as though the packet has genuinely been torn.

Step 6

Pour Out the Candy

Tip the packet and secretly release the finger-palmed candies. The falling sweets convincingly suggest that the packet is open.

Step 7

Perform the Restoration

Bring the duplicate corner over the folded area and mime rubbing the torn piece back into place.

Step 8

Reveal the Restored Packet

Palm away the duplicate corner while allowing the genuine folded corner to return to normal, then clearly display the apparently restored packet.

Final View

What the Audience Sees

The packet appears to be torn, used to pour out candy and then visibly restored with a simple rubbing gesture.

Practice Plan

Before You Perform

Practise the two effects separately. Repeat the Tic Tac tap-and-squeeze until the hidden coin drops reliably. For the packet trick, rehearse the false tear, candy release and restoration as one continuous sequence.
