Water & Scotch Switch Glasses

Watch A Shot Of Whisky, Magically Transfer From Glass To Glass

Challenge: One shot glass is filled with water and the other with whisky.
The challenge of this crafty liquor switch is to get the whisky in the glass that has the water and the water in the glass that has the whisky without using any other containers including your mouth.

Preparation: You need
Two identical shot glasses
One non porous piece of paper, like a playing card. A plastic card such as gift voucher or driving licence could also be used
Water and your choice of spirit.

Solution:

Fill one shot glass with whiskey and the other glass with water.

Find a plastic card such as a gift or credit card. Even a plastic coated playing card will normally be OK.

Place the card on top of the glass of water. Holding both carefully. Tip the water glass on top of the whiskey glass, so that the card, is separating the two glasses.

Holding the top glass, carefully slide and position the card so that there is a very small gap on one side that will allow the two liquids to come in contact with each other. You will then see the water, very slowly. start to move into the bottom glass.

After a few minutes, all of the water should have switched places with the whiskey.

.

You have just made the switch

This is a very visual trick and can be enhanced by some good patter to accompany it and fill in the time that the liquids take to switch places. The transfer happens to due the fact that water is more dense than whiskey. so it favors sitting below it, if given the choice.

Please make sure that the opening between the glasses is very small as a large opening will cause the water and alcohol to mix.
