Everyday objects can be used as props to help with your magic tricks. Here are three of the best easy magic tricks that use paper cups
1) Ball Invisibly Jumps Under A Cup
Here is an easy and enjoyable party trick to try with a paper cup and a small ball. A golf ball is used in this example but a ping pong ball would work equally well
Here we can see an example of the trick being performed
What You Will Need :-
A paper cup
A pair of scissors ( this bit is best left for adults to do )
A small ball
How Its Done :-
First of all to prepare for the trick we will need to cut a small flap in the side of the cup, near the base as shown in this photo.
All you need to do now is when you are seen to be tipping up the cup to pour the ball into your other hand, push your thumb through the flap so that the ball, stays in the cup.
You continue to make the motions as if you have emptied the ball into your other hand. You then make the ball appear to have invisibly dissolved into thin air.
You are now ready for the surprise reveal, where you lift up the cup to show that the ball has mysteriously reappeared under it.
Accept your applause as your audience jumps for joy.
2) Cool As Ice Magic Trick
This instant ice trick is so easy, you may think its not convincing. Don't believe it, it works a treat.
What you are about to perform looks really amazing to your spectators. An "empty" paper cup is shown, some water is then poured into the cup.
You tell your audience that you will use your magic powers to turn the water to ice. The cup is then turned upside down and some ice cubes fall out
This trick is best done at a party where the props are available.
The Secret: You need a cup or glass that you can't see through. You also need a small sponge and an ice cube.

Here are the props need to perform this cool party trick.
You need a non transparent cup. I find that paper cups are good for this trick.
You will also need a small piece of sponge and a couple of ice cubes.

Place the sponge and ice cubes in the cup before calling over your audience. Have glass of water ready and explain that you will attempt to turn the water into ice.
You then slowly pour some water into the cup.

Now, when the cup is tipped up, the water appears to have turned to ice as all that falls out are the ice cubes as the sponge has absorbed the water.
You can now throw the paper cup in a garbage bin so that the spectators don't have a chance to examine it and discover the sponge inside.
This trick is reasonably easy, when you know the secret.
It is a good party trick. Just remember to watch your angles so that your spectators don't see the sponge in the cup.
You can casually put the cup in the garbage, if you can right after performing then trick to avoid anyone looking inside it and seeing the sponge.
Throwing it away will seem natural if it is a disposable paper cup.
3) Cup Floating In The Air Trick
This cool levitation magic trick looks like you are levitating a paper cup. Check out the amazing video demonstration.
Effect: The magician announces that they are going to make an empty cup float. They release their grip on the cup and it appears to float in mid air.

Method: Take an empty large paper or styrofoam cup. Carefully make a hole in one side of the empty cup, big enough for your thumb to stick through. If the empty cup is made of styrofoam, you could even push your thumb straight through it.
Hold the empty cup with both your hands and facing the others in your party, announce that you are going to try and make the cup float in mid air. Have one thumb pushed through the nearest side of the cup to you, out of view of your audience.
Then, appear to be concentrating your mind on the cup and gradually open up both hands at the same time. While doing this, push your hands slightly forward as if you are following the floating cup and eventually grab the cup with both hands. Now, discreetly slip your thumb out from the side of the cup.

This is a simple illusion but it looks great when done at the right angle. Practice in front of a mirror to make sure that you get the angles and the timing right. So there you have it, three easy tricks using paper cups. You could also use styrofoam or thin disposable plastic ones if there aren't any paper ones around. There are lots of other cool tricks that can be done with these everyday items, The only limit is your imagination.
